The Summer Opera Bamberg is not only the greatest operas and orchestral workshop of its kind in Europe, but a truly European project.
Against the enchanting backdrop of the World Heritage city of Bamberg, in the heart of the continent, held every two years instead of a truly international theater event. The old Frankish imperial and episcopal city is a very special meeting place for young people from various countries who are talking in the most universal of all languages - the music. They meet new friends and create thereby a Europe that is not shaped by Brussels bureaucratic regulations or growths, but of art and culture, from common knowledge and discovery. Unlimited ...
limits are not more important then. No matter where someone was born or what passport he holds: Who has his current residence in a country of the European Union, unable to attend the Summer Opera Bamberg.
2005, in the first year, participants from Germany, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Hungary and the Netherlands, came 2007, from 11 countries. And the last time in 2009, met artists from 18 countries , Europe, South America and Asia together in Bamberg.

In 2011, we go a step further: We are inviting young musicians not only to Bamberg, but go even to travel and present the Summer Opera Bamberg as an international project:
Get started in late February with the press conference in Vienna, where Till Fabian Weser and chamber singer Angelika Kirchschlager concept and program will present this year's SOB.
In May and June, then, not least to give the request of many participants themselves several auditions . We want to know not only the musicians themselves, but even the best orchestra put together to meet new and exciting challenges of Mozart and of historical performance practice.

We look forward to an exciting summer opera Bamberg in 2011 by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's "Le nozze di Figaro." For if a theater Frankish dozen young singers, musicians and musicians from many countries joining together to bring to an Italian libretto with an act of Spain in the setting of an Austrian with skill and fun-sounding life, then the lived Europe.
